See & Discover

From Au Pré Vert, you can easily reach Domme or La Roque-Gageac. Sarlat is about 24 km away, and along the way you will come across even more villages, such as Beynac and Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.

“There's always something to discover nearby.”

Castles are everywhere around here. Castelnaud is about 13 km away, and Beynac and Les Milandes are also nearby. All three are very different and certainly worth a visit.

There is also plenty to discover underground. In the Caves of Cougnac, you can see prehistoric drawings, and at Lascaux IV, you can explore a replica of the famous cave. Around Les Eyzies, you can learn even more about prehistory.

There is much more than castles and villages. Stroll through the gardens of Marqueyssac, overlooking the Dordogne, or take an underground boat trip in the Gouffre de Padirac. Rocamadour in the Lot and the village of Autoire are also worth a visit.

Nearby, you can take a canoe onto the Dordogne, past castles and the beautiful La Roque-Gageac.

You can also try paddleboarding or take a trip on a traditional gabare. And for an afternoon of swimming, there are lovely river beaches and the swimming lake of Groléjac.

You can go in any direction by bike from here. Straight from Au Pré Vert, you can take beautiful loops through the surroundings.

The Voie Verte is ideal if you prefer flat cycling. Up for some climbing? Domme is about 10 kilometers away. And for cycling enthusiasts: in 2026, the Tour de France passed through here, via Sarlat, Domme, and La Roque-Gageac.

Why not cycle part of the route yourself.

You can put on your hiking boots right at Au Pré Vert. Beautiful hiking trails run through the immediate vicinity. The famous pilgrimage route GR652 is also nearby, with the Abbaye Nouvelle just a few kilometers away.

Vanessa has walked many kilometres along the Camino herself.

You don't have to go far for a bit more adventure either. Near Sarlat, you will find a climbing forest with various courses and ziplines. You can also go secured climbing on a rock face, horseback riding at Dégagnac, or view the Dordogne from a hot air balloon.

There is a market somewhere nearby almost every day.

On Tuesdays there's a market in Cénac, on Thursdays in Domme, and on Saturdays in Gourdon and Sarlat. To browse the stalls and pick up some treats. The summer evening markets are also worth a visit.

The Dordogne is known for its delicious regional products.

Walnuts, duck confit, foie gras, sweet strawberries, and of course the local goat cheeses. You'll find them at local markets and directly from producers.

There's always something delicious to discover.

You really don't have to cook for yourself every evening here. There's a pizzeria just a kilometer away, and you can also go to Saint-Martial-de-Nabirat, about 3 kilometers away. In Gourdon, Cénac, and Domme, you will find plenty of restaurants and nice terraces, all about 10 to 12 kilometers away. From a simple meal out to fine dining, there is plenty of choice.

We are happy to give you our tips.

In the summer, there is plenty to do in the villages. At the 'marchés gourmands', you sit down at long tables to eat together, often accompanied by music. There is such a producers' market in Bouzic, and there are also regular evening activities in Sarlat. It is a wonderful way to experience French life up close.

Swimming pool, sunbeds, shade under the veranda, and your own terrace. Grab a book, take a dip in the water every now and then, and above all, don't plan anything else.

That's a perfect holiday day too.

A game of pétanque is all part of the holiday.

On the large green meadow, there is also room for football, basketball, mini-tennis, and badminton. You are welcome to join in, or just sit back and relax.

Each gîte has its own terrace and there is a shared BBQ area.

You can also join us for dinner now and then.

The evenings here are often quiet, and on clear nights you see a lot of stars.

We live at Au Pré Vert ourselves, enjoy making guests happy, and are there for you if needed.

And plenty of tips for a nice market, a beautiful walk, or a good restaurant.

Vanessa loves cooking, and Daan enjoys being your host. Nothing formal, just friendly and helpful.
